HBS Essays 2017-18

Application Deadlines:
Round 1: September 6, 2017
Round 2: January 3, 2018
Round 3: April 2, 2018

Required Essays for 2017-18 (Class of 2020, matriculating Fall 2018):

As we review your application, what more would you like us to know as we consider your candidacy for the Harvard Business School MBA program?

Tips from HBS: There is no word limit for this question. Don’t overthink, overcraft and overwrite. Just answer the question in clear language that those of us who don’t know your world can understand.

2. Post Interview Reflection:

Within 24 hours of the interview, candidates are required to submit a written reflection through our online application system. Detailed instructions will be provided to those applicants who are invited to the interview process.


Other application requirements:

1. Recommendations

Two recommendations are required.  Recommenders will be asked to fill out a personal qualities and skills grid and answer the following questions:

a. How do the candidate’s performance, potential, background, or personal qualities compare to those of other well-qualified individuals in similar roles? Please provide specific examples. (300 words)

Please describe the most important piece of constructive feedback you have given the applicant. Please detail the circumstances and the applicant’s response. (250 words)

2. Resume

One business resume, it does not need any specific format

3. Transcripts: 3 years undergrad degree is also valid

4. GMAT or GRE : submit your best single score

5. TOEFL : Not necessary if English was the sole language of instruction at your undergrad institution), minimum internet-based score of 109 recommended.

6. Fee:  $250


7. Interview:

Interviews are by invitation only.  Usually they are 30 minutes long and are conducted by an MBA Admissions Board member

Interviews are followed by the post interview reflection

8. Reapplications:

Reapplicants are expected to submit an entire new application. A reapplication is evaluated independently from the previous application and stands on its own merit.
